History of Mark-One, Inc.
In 1987, Mark Peters began working with friends who were remodeling homes. He installed vinyl siding and windows and did roofs and gutters. As time went on, he began to gut kitchens and bathrooms. In 1988 he purchased a used Dodge Pick-Up truck for $500 to haul away debris. Duct tape was used to hold it together but it served its purpose. He eventually decided to start a business and after speaking with a friend, named it Mark-One Home Improvements. During the same time, at the request of contractor friends, he began cleaning up their job sites in addition to his own and would provide disposal services. To meet these requests, large plastic barrels would be delivered to job sites and Mark would pick them up once they were filled. He would then drive long distances to dispose of them at a dump where he could save money. Mark’s philosophy has always been to do a good job, be flexible and always provide contractors with the best possible service.
As the volume of debris increased, Mark stopped doing remodeling projects and purchased a 1-ton Rack Body Chevrolet with a 15 yard capacity so he could focus on disposal and pick-ups. From there the business grew to include full dumpster, debris pick-ups and demolition services and was renamed Mark-One, Inc.
Today the company employs more than 30 employees, has six roll-off vehicles and roughly 200 dumpsters in addition to a fleet of dump trucks and vans used for the demolition and pick-up services.
